It’s baking season! I like to bake a ton of fresh cookies right before a bunch of my family comes over so they have something warm and delicious to eat. My go-to cookies are chocolate chip, sugar and gingerbread. I’ve already shared my chocolate chip cookie recipe, so today I’ll share my sugar cookie recipe and tomorrow my gingerbread recipe. Sugar and gingerbread cookies are the most fun because of all the ways you can decorate them! Whether you use fun cookie cutters to make different shapes or put colored frosting on them, the possibilities are endless and fun for the whole family.
1 cup of butter/margarine
1 cup of sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
2 teaspoons of baking powder
2 3/4 cups of flour
1 small pinch of salt
Pre-heat oven to 400.
Mix butter and sugar together until creamy.
Add egg and vanilla.
Mix in all of the dry ingredients and slowly add them into the butter/cream mixture. Stir thoroughly.
Roll dough onto lightly floured counter/board to desired thickness.
Cut with cookie cutters and bake for 7 to 10 minutes. Cookies should come out of the oven with slight browning on the edges.
